Chat Fusion User’s Guide 138Optimizing Block and Flow ScansScan Optimization only works in Block Scan Mode and Flow Scan Mode.To optimize block and flow scans, choose Menu > Settings > Input >Scanning > Patterns. Then turn on Scan Optimization.When Scan Optimization is turned on, blocks or flows are scanned in themost efficient way on each page.If you turn Scan Optimization off, blocks or flows will be scanned thesame way on all pages.With Scan Optimization turned on: Flow finds the lowest average # ofscanning steps for every button on a page. Visualize the page layout inone straight line. For example, if you break the buttons on a page into 6equal groups, it takes 5 scanning steps just to get to the 6th group. Flowadjusts the groups so the initial one is larger, spreading the groups overthe page to average the number of scanning steps over the entire pagemore equally.With Scan Optimization turned off: Flow scans equal groups of buttonson every page. Visualize the page layout in one straight line. Forexample, if you break the buttons on a page into equal groups, thesame number of buttons will be scanned in each group.
