The portadministrative state has two forms: the configured administrative state and thecurrent administrative state. Configured administrative state — the state that is saved in the switchconfiguration and is preserved across switch resets. QuickTools alwaysmakes changes to the configured administrative state. Current administrative state — the state that is applied to the port fortemporary purposes and is not preserved across switch resets. The currentadministrative state is set with the Set Port command using the commandline interface.Table 5-5 describes the port administrative states. To change port administrativestate, do the following:1. Select one or more ports in the faceplate display.2. Open the Port menu and select Port Properties to open the Port Propertiesdialog.3. Select the Port State option from the drop-down list.4. Click the OK button to write the new port state request to the switch.Downed — the port is disabled, power is removed from the lasers, andcan’t be logged in.Table 5-5.
