5. Copier325 CopierCopy5.1 Making a copyIllegal copiesL It is unlawful to make copies of certaindocuments.Copying certain documents may be illegal in yourcountry. Penalties of fines and/or imprisonment maybe imposed on those found guilty. The following areexamples of items that may be illegal to copy in yourcountry.– Currency– Bank notes and checks– Bank and government bonds and securities– Passports and identification cards– Copyright material or trademarks without theconsent of the owner– Postage stamps and other negotiableinstrumentsThis list is not inclusive and no liability isassumed for either its completeness or accuracy.In case of doubt, contact your legal counsel.Notice:L Install your machine near a supervised area toprevent illegal copies from being made.5.1.1 Using the scanner glass1 If the {COPY} light is OFF, turn it ON by pressing{COPY}.2 Set the original (page 16).3 If necessary, change the resolution and contrastaccording to the type of document.L To select the resolution, see page 32.L To select the contrast, see page 32.4 If necessary, enter the number of copies (up to 99).5 {START}L The unit will start copying.6 After you finish copying, press {STOP} to reset thesettings you set in step 3 and 4.Note:L To stop copying, see page 68.L You can change the default operation mode (feature#463 on page 54) and the timer before returning tothe default operation mode (feature #464 on page54).L Copied documents will be stacked on the upperoutput tray. You can change the output tray forcopying (feature #466 on page 59).L If the {FAX AUTO ANSWER} indicator is ON, theunit can receive faxes automatically even when in thecopy mode.To select the resolution1. Press {QUALITY} 2 times.2. Press {V} or {^} repeatedly to select the desiredresolution.– “TEXT/PHOTO”: For both text and photographs.– “TEXT”: For text only.– “PHOTO”: For photographs, shaded drawings,etc.3. {SET}Note:L You can change the default resolution (feature #461on page 59).To select the contrastYou can adjust this setting depending on the darkness orlightness of the document. 5 levels (light to dark) areavailable.1. {QUALITY}2.
