Connections: External Remote Control 137ConnectionsExternal Remote ControlUse the RS-422A interface to send commands to an externaldevice to control it.The following functions permit remote control.• PLAY, STOP, SEARCH, FF, REW• Counter and status LED indication1 Press the PLAYER button.This allows the unit to perform remote control of externaldevices.◆ NOTE:• When performing remote control of external devices, set setupmenu No.25 (SYSTEM FREQ) to 59.94, 50, 23.98, 24, 29.97 or 25.• Complete any settings required for controlling a remotely connecteddevice before switching.In external control mode, the PLAYER lamp goes on and theunit provides the following indications.• The LED goes on to indicate external device status.• Indicates the external device counter• The unit is forcibly set to EE to enable reception of audioand video from the external device• Counter, status and P mark indications for the externaldevice are superimposed on the screen.The control buttons listed below enable remote control of anexternal device.Remote Operation of External DevicesSetup Procedure1Indications during control of externaldevicesRemote operation procedureSTOP Sends the STOP command.PLAY Sends the PLAY command.SEARCH Sends the JOG, VAR or SHTL command.REW Sends the REW command.FF Sends the FF command.Dial Sends the JOG, VAR or SHTL command.COUNTER Sends the switch COUNTER command(CTL/TC only).RESET Sends the 0 reset command in CTL mode.
