16 Part Number STH044 10/13Ice Machine Head Section WaterSupply and DrainsPOTABLE WATER SUPPLYThe ice machine must be connected to a potable watersupply only. Local water conditions may requiretreatment of the water to inhibit scale formation, filtersediment, remove chlorine, and improve taste andclarity.POTABLE WATER INLET LINESFollow these guidelines to install water inlet lines:• Do not connect the ice machine to a hot watersupply. Be sure all hot water restrictors installed forother equipment are working. (Check valves onsink faucets, dishwashers, etc.)• If water pressure exceeds the maximumrecommended pressure of 80 psig (5.5 Bar),obtain a water pressure regulator from yourManitowoc Distributor.• Install a water shut-off valve and union for both theice making and condenser water lines.• Insulate water inlet lines to prevent condensation.ImportantIf you are installing a Manitowoc water filter system,refer to the Installation Instructions supplied with thefilter system for ice making water inlet connections.
