Calibration Procedures 1Keysight U1281A/U1282A Service Guide 45Using the Front Panel for AdjustmentsThis section describes the procedures to perform adjustments from the frontpanel. To unsecure the multimeter, see “To unsecure the multimeter” on page 38. Onceunsecured, the reference value will be indicated on the display.Adjustment considerations– Use Fluke 5520A or an equivalent calibrator for the adjustment procedure.– Ensure the battery capacity is greater than the indicated 60%.– Ensure that the environmental temperature is 23 ºC ± 2 ºC and the relativehumidity is < 50%.– Consider the thermal effects as you are connecting the test leads to thecalibrator and multimeter. It is recommended to wait for 3 to 5 seconds beforeyou begin the calibration after connecting the test leads.– Calibrate the DC mV prior to ambient temperature calibration. Do not calibratethe DC mV immediately after a high current measurement or calibration.– Turn on the multimeter for at least 1 hour with the Type-K thermocoupleconnected before proceeding with the ambient temperature adjustment.– by connecting specified terminals of the multimeter with copper wireson banana plugs as short as possible.– by removing all test leads from the terminals of the multimeter.NOTE After each adjustment, the display will show . If the calibration fails, themultimeter will emit a beep, and an error number will be displayed. Calibrationerror messages are described in “Calibration Error Codes” on page 57.CAUTION Never turn off the multimeter during an adjustment. This may delete thecalibration memory for the present function.
