40TroubleshootingIf a problem arises while you are using the TV, please read this “Troubleshooting” well beforeyou request having the TV repaired. You may be able to fix it easily by yourself. For example, ifthe AC plug is disconnected from the AC outlet, or the TV aerial has problems, you may thinkthere is a problem with the TV itself.Important:• This Troubleshooting guide only covers problems whose cause are not easy to determine. If aquestion arise when you are operating a function, read the page(s) corresponding to theoperation of the function well, not this Troubleshooting guide.• After you have followed the Troubleshooting description or the operating description of thefunctions concerned without any success, remove the AC plug from the AC outlet and requesta repair of your TV. Do not attempt to repair the TV by yourself or remove the rear cover ofthe TV. If you cannot turn on the TV• Is the AC plug connected to the ACoutlet?• Is the Power lamp lit? If not, press theMain power button. No picture/No sound• Have you chosen a TV channel whosereception is extremely bad? In this case,the BLUE BACK function will beactivated, the entire screen becomes blue,and the sound is muted. In spite of this, ifyou want to view the TV channel, followthe description “BLUE BACK” onpage 26 to try to change the BLUE BACKfunction setting to OFF.• Have you connected the headphones tothe TV? Connecting the headphones tothe TV causes sounds not to be issuedfrom the TV speakers.• If the SYSTEM setting for a TV channelis incorrect, it may prevent the soundfrom being issued. Follow the description“EDIT/MANUAL” on page 27 to use theMANUAL function to try to change theSYSTEM setting. Poor picture• If noise totally obscures the picture(snow), the aerial or aerial cable may havetrouble. Check the following to try tosolve the trouble:Has the TV and aerial been connectedproperly?Has the aerial cable been damaged?Is the aerial pointed to the rightdirection?Is the aerial itself faulty?• If the TV or aerial receives interferencefrom the other devices, stripes or noisemay appear in the picture. Move suchdevices as an amplifier, personalcomputer, or a hair drier that can causeinterference away from your TV, or trychanging its location. If the aerial suffersinterference from a radio tower or high-voltage wire, please contact your localdealer.• If the TV receives interference fromsignal reflecting from mountains orbuilding, double-pictures (ghosting) willoccur. Try to change the aerial’s directionor replace the antenna with the one withbetter directionality.• Are your COLOUR SYSTEM settings forthe TV channels correct? Follow thedescription “COLOUR SYSTEM” onpage 21 to try to solve the trouble.
