68Part SixGTS 800 InterfaceTraffic Warning WindowWhen the unit is not on the traffic page and a trafficthreat is imminent, the Traffic Warning Window is dis-played. The Warning Window shows a small map andcan display the Traffic Page (if the user presses ENT) orreturn to the previous page (if the user presses CLR).Traffic Warning WindowNOTE: The Traffic Warning Window is disabled whenthe aircraft ground speed is less than 30 knots or whenan approach is active, unless the unit is configured forhelicopter operation as noted by the helicopter ownshipicon.NOTE: GTS 8XX series unit data is only displayed on theMap Page if suitable aircraft heading data is available.See the Garmin 400W or 500W Series Installation Manu-als available at your authorized Garmin service center fordetails.Traffic Page Display RangeYou can change the display range on the TrafficPage at any time.1. Press the RNG Key to cycle through the fol-lowing range options:• GTS 800 - 2 NM, 2 and 6 NM, and 6 and 12 NM.• GTS 820 and 850 - 2 NM, 6 NM, 12 NM, 24 NM,and 40 NM.TAS Symbol Traffic Type DescriptionOther TrafficSymbolThe hollow white (may be configured as cyan) diamond represents traffic detected withinthe selected display range that does not meet the criteria for a TA or a PA and does notpose an immediate collision threat.ProximityAdvisory (PA)Proximity Advisories (PA) are displayed as solid white (may be configured as cyan)diamonds. PA’s are defined as traffic within 6 NM, within 1200 feet of vertical separation,and are not a Traffic Advisory (TA)TrafficAdvisory (TA)A Traffic Advisory (TA) is generated when the GTS 8XX predicts that an intruder aircraftmay pose a collision threat. A solid yellow circle represents an intruder aircraft that meetsthe TA criteria as described in the TA Alerting Conditions section. A TA consists of the trafficsymbol and an aural alert (e.g., “traffic, 12 o’clock, high, 3 miles”).Out-of-Range TrafficAdvisoryThis solid yellow half circle appears (on the outer range ring) under the same conditionsand has the same urgency as a TA.
