GFK-2224Q January 2017 33Chapter 4 ConfigurationBefore you can use the Ethernet Interface, you must configure it using Machine Edition Logic Developer-PLCsoftware.This chapter includes configuration information for:RX3i Embedded Ethernet Interface page 33Rack-based and RX7i Embedded Ethernet Interfaces 474.1 RX3i Embedded Ethernet InterfacesEthernet Configuration DataThe PACSystems PLC is configured exclusively by the Machine Edition Logic Developer-PLC programmer. Forinitial programmer connection, an initial IP address must be manually assigned to the Ethernet interface asdescribed in this chapter. The PACSystems PLC does not support auto-configuration.Generating / Storing / Loading the ConfigurationThe RX3i embedded Ethernet interface is configured as a sub-module of the CPE CPU module. The RX3iembedded Ethernet Interface uses Ethernet Configuration and optional Advanced User Parameter (AUP)Configuration. Both are generated at the Programmer, stored from the Programmer to the PLC as part of thehardware configuration Store sequence, and may be loaded from the PLC to the Programmer as port of theConfiguration Load sequence. The optional AUP file must be manually generated with a text editor and thenimported into the Programmer. (See Appendix A for details.) Once stored to the PLC, the CPU maintains theEthernet configuration data in non-volatile memory over power cycles.Neither CPE330 nor CPE400 supports an AUP file. The configurable AUP parameters for these CPUs are part ofthe configuration for the embedded Ethernet interface in PME 8.60 SIM5.Backup Configuration DataThe RX3i embedded Ethernet interface maintains a backup copy of the most recent Ethernet configuration andAUP configuration in non-volatile memory. A PLC Configuration Clear does not affect this backup Ethernetconfiguration data. When the configuration was not stored from the programmer, or the PLC configuration hasbeen cleared, the Ethernet interface uses its backup configuration.Locally Edited Configuration DataThe embedded Ethernet configuration and AUP configuration cannot be locally edited via Station Manager. Allconfiguration changes must be performed via the programmer.
