For detailsabout using the video flash light, refer to the instruction manual of theVFL-2.NOTES• The flash will not fire in the following cases:- When the flash mode is set to [U Automatic] or [V Red-Eye Auto]and you manually adjust the exposure.- During auto exposure bracketing.- When the flash mode is set to [U Automatic] or [V Red-Eye Auto]and the recording program is set to [q Night Scene].- When using an optional video light.• About the AF-Assist Lamp: While you press j halfway, if the sur-roundings of the subject are too dark, the mini video light may light upbriefly in order to enable the camcorder to focus more accurately (AF-assist lamp).- You can also set 8 8 [AF-Assist Lamp] to [B Off] so the assistlamp is not activated.- The camcorder may not be able to focus even if the AF-assist lamp ison.- When the recording program is set to [r Underwater] or[s Surface], [AF-Assist Lamp] is automatically set to [B Off].• The practical range of the flash is approx. 1 to 2 m. The practical rangewith the VFL-2 attached is approx. 1 to 4 m. In any case, the actualrange will depend on the recording conditions.• The range of the flash decreases in continuous shooting mode.• For red-eye reduction to be effective, the subject needs to look at theassist lamp. The degree of reduction depends on the distance and oneach individual.• The flash mode cannot be selected when the exposure is locked.• We recommend not using the flash while the optional Wide-converter orTele-converter is attached; its shadow can appear on the screen.Drive Mode: Continuous Shooting and Exposure BracketingTake a series of photos of a moving subject or record the same picturein 3 levels of exposure in order to choose later the photo you like thebest.
