C Theory of Operation 2-1Section2THEORY OF OPERATIONThis section describes the theory of operation for the Companion 1000/T Portableliquid oxygen unit, including system component descriptions, liquid oxygen saturationprinciples, and Companion 1000/T operating principles.2.1 COMPANION 1000/T COMPONENT DESCRIPTIONSFollowing is a brief description of each of the major functional components of theCompanion 1000/T Portable.2.1.1 Cryogenic ContainerLiquid oxygen is stored in the Companion 1000/T Portable at a temperature ofapproximately -276°F (-171°C) and a pressure of 22 psig (152 kPa). The cryogeniccontainer (Figure 2-1) minimizes the transfer of ambient heat to the liquid oxygencontents. It consists of a stainless steel inner container suspended within a stainless steelouter container.Figure 2-1: Cryogenic ContainerNumerical values used in this section are nominal values.
