Diskus to Betacam InterfaceYou can use your Betacam® deck’s built-in deck-to-deck editingfunctions to make frame accurate video transfers from Diskus tothe Betacam deck. Diskus emulates the playback VCR deckfunctions. See the Betacam Operations Manual for details onRecorder/Player deck-to-deck editing functions.Setup ProcedureSTEP 1: Confirm that your Betacam deck has the Player andRecorder buttons on the front control panel.STEP 2: Connect a 9-pin DB male to 9-pin DB male (pin-to-pin)RS-422 cable from the Betacam’s remote connector toRemote Port 1 on Diskus.STEP 3: Open the Diskus Remote 1 menu, and set the protocol toSony.STEP 4: Using three 75 ohm coaxial cables, connect the Diskus Y, U,and V analog outputs to the Betacam’s analog inputs(Component 2).STEP 5: Confirm that both Diskus and the Betacam deck have thesame reference input source. An edit will abort if Diskusand the Betacam deck are not genlocked to the same source.STEP 6: Set the Betacam for master/slave operation.A. Check that the Component Input selector on the rear ofthe chassis is set for Component 2 inputs.B. Set the Input Selector (front upper control panel) to Y-R,B.C. Set the Betacam Local/Remote switch to Local.If these steps do not establish communications between theBetacam deck and Diskus, use the following steps:STEP 7: Open the Defaults menu on Diskus, and press the Controlparameter setting. Choose Off from the list, then reset it toAll or Remote 1.
