– 26 –6<67(0)81&7,216Testing the System (to be conducted weekly)Entering Test ModeThe TEST key puts your system into the Test mode, which allows each protection pointto be checked for proper operation. The keypad sounds a single beep every 45 seconds asa reminder that the system is in the Test mode.Note: An alarm message will not be sent to your alarm monitoring company during thefollowing tests.Disarm the system and close all protected windows, doors, etc. The “READY” messageshould be displayed and the green READY indicator (if present on the keypad) shouldalso be lit.Enter the security code then press TESTLISTEN. The external sounder should sound for 2 seconds and then turn off.If the sounder does not sound, notify your service company.FAULT ZONES. Open each protected door and window in turn and listen for threebeeps from the keypad. Identification of each faulted protection point should appear onthe display. The display will clear when the door or window is closed.Walk in front of any interior motion detectors (if used) and listen for three beeps. Theidentification of the detector should appear on the display when it is activated, and itsvoice descriptor will be announced (if programmed). The display will clear when nomotion is detected. Note that if wireless motion detectors are used, there is a 3-minutedelay between activations. This is to conserve battery life.To test all smoke detectors, follow the manufacturer's instructions. The identification ofeach detector should appear on the display when each is activated.If a problem is experienced with any protection point (no confirming sounds, no display),notify your service company.When all protection points have been checked and are intact (closed), there should be nozone identification numbers displayed on the keypad.Exit Test ModeWhen testing is completed, exit the TEST mode by entering your security code andpressing the OFF key.If the Test mode is inadvertently left active, it automatically turns off after 4 hours.
