The recommendation to avoid an unsynchronized robotis to keep the power to the controller turned on until the battery is to be replaced. For an SMB board with 3-pole battery contact (RMU101 3HAC044168-001 orRMU102 3HAC043904-001), the lifetime of a new battery is typically 36 months. For an SMB board with 2-pole battery contact, the typical lifetime of a new batteryis 36 months if the robot is powered off 2 days/week or 18 months if the robot ispowered off 16 h/day. The lifetime can be extended for longer production breakswith a battery shutdown service routine.
