Management Options 43Switching ModuleAdministrationConsoleEach switch fabric module and LAN interface module has a built-inmanagement interface called the Administration Console. It is amenu-driven CLI that provides module-specific menus and parameters.(i.e., the menus are different between Layer 2 Switching Modules andMultilayer Switching Modules). You use this interface to configure allparameters for a particular module and to display module statistics andsummary configurations.To access the Administration Console on a particular switching module inthe chassis, you must first log in to the Management Module and thenconnect to the module slot. You can view the Administration Consolefrom a terminal, a PC, a Macintosh, or a UNIX workstation.For more information about the features and options in theAdministration Console, see the chapters in Part II of this guide. The suite consists of embedded Web Managementsoftware applications as well as other tools that you can install:n Embedded Web Management applications — Use the embeddedWeb Management applications for most of your device configurationand management tasks. You can manage a single port or device, or,using multiple windows, you can manage multiple devices. Thissoftware, which is part of the system software image, contains:n WebConsole — An HTML-based set of configuration forms.n DeviceView — A Java-based application that displays a real-timeimage of the device.
