38 | Persona The Personalized Knee Surgical TechniquePerform Trial ReductionRemove any posterior osteophytes or overhangingbone on the femur to ensure maximum knee flexion. In this step, a trial reduction is performed to checkcomponent position, patellar tracking, range ofmotion (ROM), and joint stability. Depending on theorder of the surgical steps, some of the provisionalcomponents may already be in place. For example ifthe cemented tibial sizing plate is to be used, it mayalready be in place. If the femoral provisional wasthe last bone preparation step, it will already be inplace. If not, attach the femoral inserter/extractor tothe appropriate femoral provisional and insert on thebone in the correct position (Figures 83a and 83b).Technique Tip: Be sure that soft tissue is nottrapped beneath the provisionals. Impact until fullyseated.Remove the femoral inserter/exactor from theprovisional. With the knee in extension, ensure that theprovisional is flush against the resected distal surfaceof the femur on the medial condyle. Retract the lateralside and check to make sure it is flush distally, onthe lateral side. If preparation for patella resurfacinghas been performed, insert the appropriate patellaprovisional during the trialing phase.Figure 83a Figure 83bPersona CR FemoralProvisional Size 7 Right42-5027-062-02Persona Femoral PSImpactor Pad42-5099-093-00Persona PS-CPS BoxProvisional Size 6-7 Right42-5047-007-12Persona PS-CPS FemoralProvisional Size 7 Right42-5047-062-02Standard All-PolyPatella Provisional,Size 35 mm x 9 mm00-5971-065-35Tibial Provisional Extractor00-5977-017-00Quick Connect Handle00-5901-034-00Tibial Impactor Head00-5901-033-00Persona Stemmed TibialProvisional Size F Right42-5321-075-02Persona FemoralInserter/Extractor42-5099-092-00Persona Cemented TibialSizing Plate Size F Right42-5399-075-02Persona Femoral CRImpactor Pad42-5099-094-00
