InsertEstablish Size and Rotation of TibiaUse only Persona tibial sizing, broaching, and provisionalinstrumentation for preparation of Persona Implants.Once tibial osteophytes have been thoroughlyremoved, select the appropriate right or left sizingplate that provides the desired tibial coverage, withoutoverhang at any location. Appropriate tibial sizing isimportant as an over sized tibia component can resultin overhang, soft tissue impingement and pain, orwith stemmed components potential distal conflictbetween stem and bone.Attach the tibial sizing plate handle to the cementedtibial sizing plate (Figure 49a). The recommendedtibial rotational alignment is within 5 degrees of theaxis created by the medial 1/3 of the tibial tubercleand the PCL attachment point. The engraved lineson the cemented tibial sizing plate can be used toaid in establishing the desired tibial rotation. Rotatethe cemented tibial sizing plate to attain the desiredtibial rotational alignment. The notch in the lateralperiphery of the sizing plate is used to establish properposition with respect to the lateral border of the tibiawithout medialization of the sizing plate.When the desired position has been attained, securethe cemented tibial sizing plate by placing 25 mm x 3.2mm (2.5 mm female hex) screws or 25 mm x 3.2 mmshort head holding pins in the medial and lateral holesnear the PCL cutout of the cemented tibial sizing plate(Figure 49b). The remaining adjunct fixation holes shownon the surface of the cemented tibial sizing plate can beused if necessary. If the cemented tibial sizing plate isto be used as a provisional in later steps, male-headedscrews/pins used in these holes must be removed priorto using the Tibial Articular Surface Provisionals (TASPs)(Figure 50). Ensure that the cemented tibial sizing plateremains in the proper position when securing it to thebone. Once desired alignment has been verified with thealignment rod, remove the tibial sizing plate handle fromthe cemented tibial sizing plate.Figure 49b Figure 50Figure 49a
