Cooling SystemMaintenanceServicing the Cooling SystemCoolant specification: a mixture of 50% ethylene glycoland 50% waterEngine and Radiator coolant capacity: 17.2 L (18.2 US qt)WARNINGIf you remove the radiator cap from a hot engine,hot coolant could spray, causing scalding.• Wear face protection when opening the radiatorcap.• Allow the cooling system to cool down to below50°C (120°F) before removing the radiator cap.• Follow the instructions for checking andmaintaining the engine cooling system.WARNINGCoolant is toxic.• Keep coolant away from children and pets.• If you are not re-using the coolant, dispose of itaccording to local environmental regulations.Checking the Coolant Level in theReservoirService Interval: Before each use or dailyNote: Do not remove the radiator filler cap during thisprocedure.1. Park the machine on a level surface, stop the engine,and remove the ignition key.2. Allow the engine to cool.3. Remove the right side panel; refer to Removing theSide Panels (page 35).4. Check the coolant level in the reservoir (Figure 75).Figure 751. Reservoir 2. Coolant level (halfwaybetween the Add and Fullmarks)Note: Ensure that the coolant level is between theAdd mark and the Full mark on the reservoir (Figure75).5. Add the specified coolant until the coolant level ishalfway between the Add mark and the Full mark onthe reservoir.Note: Ensure that the coolant solution is thoroughlymixed before filling the reservoir.6. Install the right side panel; refer to Installing the SidePanels (page 36).Checking the Coolant Level in theRadiatorService Interval: Every 50 hoursWARNINGIf the engine has been running, the radiator willpressurized and the coolant inside will be hot. Ifyou remove the cap, coolant may spray out, causingsevere burns.• Do not remove the radiator cap to check coolantlevels.• Do not remove the radiator cap when the engineis hot. Allow the engine to cool for at least 15minutes or until the radiator cap is cool enoughto touch without burning your hand.Note: The cooling system is filled with antifreeze having amixture of 50% ethylene glycol and 50% water.1. Park the machine on a level surface, stop the engine,and remove the ignition key.2. Allow the engine to cool.3. Remove the nose panel; refer to Removing the NosePanel (page 36).4. Open the vent valve for the engine (Figure 76).54
