Greensmaster 3250--DPage 5 -- 20Electrical SystemBacklap SwitchThe backlap switch is a normally open ball switch that isin the normal, open state when the backlap lever is in themow position. When the backlap lever is in the backlapposition, the switch closes. The backlap switch is at-tached to the front of the hydraulic control manifold lo-cated under the operator seat (Fig. 21).Testing1. Park machine on level surface, lower cutting units, stop engine, apply parking brake and remove key fromignition switch.2. Make sure ignition switch is in the OFF position.3. Raise operator seat to allow access to hydraulic con-trol manifold. Locate the backlap switch on the front ofthe manifold. Disconnect the wire harness electricalconnector from the backlap switch.4. Check the continuity of the switch by connecting amultimeter (ohms setting) across the switch connectorterminals.5. With the ignition switch in the OFF position, turn thebacklap lever to the backlap position while watching themultimeter. Continuity should be made as the switch clo-ses.6. Turn the backlap lever to the mow position whilewatching the multimeter. Continuity should be broken asthe switch opens.7. If the backlap switch is faulty, replace switch. Makesure that dowel and ball are placed in the manifold portbefore installing new switch in manifold. Torque switchto 20 ft--lb (27 N--m).8. If the backlap switch tests correctly and a circuitproblem still exists, check wire harness (see ElectricalSchematic and Wire Harness Drawings in Chapter 9 --Foldout Drawings).9. After testing is completed, connect wire harnesselectrical connector to the backlap switch. Lower opera-tor seat.1. Backlap switch2. Backlap lever3. Ball4. Dowel5.
