are designed to allow assembly only when thetwo halves of the shaft are properly oriented.Understanding theDiagnostic LightThe machine is equipped with a diagnostic lightwhich indicates if the electronic controller isfunctioning correctly. The green diagnostic lightis located under the control panel, next to thefuse block (Figure 37). When the electroniccontroller is functioning correctly and the keyswitch is moved to the On position, the controllerdiagnostic light will be illuminated. The light willblink if the controller detects a malfunction in theelectrical system. The light will stop blinking andautomatically reset when the key switch is turnedto the Off position.Figure 371. Diagnostic lightWhen the controller diagnostic light blinks, one ofthe following problems has been detected by thecontroller:• One of the outputs has been shorted.• One of the outputs is open circuited.Using the diagnostic display, determine whichoutput is malfunctioning; refer to Checking theInterlock Switches. If the diagnostic light is not illuminated when thekey switch is in the On position, this indicates thatthe electronic controller is not operating. Possiblecauses are as follows:• Loop-back is not connected.• The light is burned out.• Fuses are blown.• It is not functioning correctly.Check the electrical connections, input fuses, anddiagnostic light bulb to determine the malfunction.Ensure that the loop-back connector is secured tothe wire harness connector.Diagnostic Ace DisplayThe machine is equipped with an electroniccontroller which controls most machine functions. The controller determines what function isrequired for various input switches (i.e. seatswitch, key switch, etc.) and turns on the outputsto actuate solenoids or relays for the requestedmachine function. For the electronic controller to control themachine as desired, each of the input switches, output solenoids, and relays must be connectedand functioning properly.Use the Diagnostic ACE display to help verify andcorrect electrical functions of the machine.Checking the InterlockSwitchesThe purpose of the interlock switches are toprevent the engine from cranking or startingunless the traction pedal is in the Neutral position, the Enable/Disable switch is in the Disableposition, and the Lower Mow/Raise control isin the Neutral position. In addition, the engineshould stop when the traction pedal is pressedwith operator off of the seat.34
