In the faceplate display, select the port(s) to be reset.2. On the Port menu, click Reset Port.3. Click Yes to reset the selected port(s).Testing PortsYou can test a port using the Port Diagnostics dialog box. Only one port can betested at a time for each type of test. The Port Diagnostics dialog box (Figure 6-8)presents the following tests: Internal—a disruptive test that verifies port circuitry. The SerDes level testsends a test frame from the ASIC through the SerDes chip and back to theASIC for the selected ports. The port passes the test if the frame that wassent by the ASIC matches the test frame that was received. This testrequires that the port be in diagnostics mode, and therefore disruptscommunication. External—a disruptive test that verifies port circuitry. The SFP level testsends a test frame from the ASIC through the SerDes chip, through the SFPtransceiver fitted with an external loopback plug, and back to the ASIC forthe selected ports. The port passes the test if the test frame that was sent bythe ASIC matches the test frame that was received. This test requires thatthe port be in diagnostics mode. Online—a non-disruptive test that verifies communications between the portand its device node or device loop. The port being tested must be online andconnected to a remote device, and therefore, does not disruptcommunication. The port passes the test if the frame that was sent by theASIC matches the frame that was received.
