E-55MAINTENANCEThis section describes the simple maintenance procedures you shouldfollow to replace the lamp and the filter, and to clean the filter, the cabi-net and the lens.Replacing the LampAfter your lamp has been operating for 2000 hours (Normal mode onthe standard life lamp) or longer, the "Lamp" indicator in the cabinet willblink red and the message will appear. Even though the lamp may stillbe working, replace it as soon as possible to maintain optimal projectorperformance.CAUTION• DO NOT TOUCH THE LAMP immediately after it has been used.It will be extremely hot. Turn the projector off, wait 90 seconds, turn off the main power switch, and then disconnect the powercable. Allow at least one hour for the lamp to cool before han-dling.• DO NOT REMOVE ANY SCREWS except the two lamp casescrews. You could receive an electric shock.• The projector will turn off and go into stand by mode after 2100hours (Normal mode on the standard life lamp) of service. If thishappens, be sure to replace the lamp. If you continue to use thelamp after 2000 hours (Normal mode on the standard life lamp)of use, the lamp bulb may shatter, and pieces of glass may bescattered in the lamp housing. Do not touch them as the piecesof glass may cause injury. If this happens, contact your NEC dealer for lamp replacement. To replace the lamp:NOTE: The optional lamp comes with a flat-head screwdriver.1. Remove the lamp cover by pushing two grooves lightly with the flat-head screwdriver.2. Loosen the two screws securing the lamp housing until the screw-driver goes into a freewheeling condition. The two screws are notremovable.3. Remove the lamp housing by pulling out the handle.NOTE: There is an interlock on this case to prevent the risk of electrical shock.Do not attempt to circumvent this interlock.4. Insert a new lamp housing until the lamp housing is plugged into thesocket.CAUTION: Do not use a lamp other than the NEC replacement lamp(Standard life lamp: MT70LP (MT1075), MT60LP (MT1065) or Ex-tended life lamp: MT60LPS).5. Secure it in place with the two screws.Be sure to tighten the screws.6. Reattach the lamp cover.7. Snap the lamp cover into place.NOTE: Replacing a new lamp automatically clears the lamp usage hours.NOTE: The lamp housing has an EEPROM chip memorizing its amount of usagehours. You can check the amount usage hours in Information of the menu. (Thestandard lamp and the optional lamp have an EEPROM chip in it so that whenyou remove it, your lamp usage hours are saved in its own memory. The projec-tor reads the lamp usage hours from the EEPROM chip to display them in Infor-mation of the menu.)Interlock
