Understanding the Active Upgrade Console InterfacePreparing for the Active Upgrade Process 2-25You can click Active Upgrade to perform a readiness check, and, if you are stillmodifying a configuration file, you can click any page in the Configuration section togo back and make additional changes.After you initiate an upgrade session (by clicking Split on the Active Upgrade page),the navigation bar reverts to a static mode, in which it only indicates where you are inthe upgrade process and does not allow you to skip between pages. At that point, youuse the controls in the main window to complete the upgrade process.The pages in the Active Upgrade section of the navigation bar have the followingpurposes:Active Upgrade — Allows you to perform a readiness test, and if applicable, tosplit the system for an upgrade.• Split System — Indicates that the system is entering split mode, and allowsyou to merge system resources (or abort the upgrade) after you finish runninginstallation packages.• Merge System — Indicates that the system is entering merge mode, andallows you to commit (or abort) the upgrade after you have tested yourchanges.• Commit Upgrade — Indicates that the system is committing the upgrade, andallows you to finish the process by cleaning up system resources.• Abort Upgrade — Indicates that the upgrade process has been aborted, andallows you to finish the process by cleaning up system resources. (You canabort the upgrade process at any point prior to committing the upgrade.)• Finish — Indicates that the upgrade process is complete and allows you tosave a copy of the activity log to a file, start another upgrade, or exit the ActiveUpgrade console.The navigation bar also contains the Links shown in Figure 2-7, which are active onlywhile the system is running in split mode.Figure 2-7.
