Section 2 Installation InstructionsPart Number 040001361 05/10 7Water Supply and Drain RequirementsWATER SUPPLYPrepare water supply line and drain before installation ofyour ice machine. Installation requires a 1/4" ID coppercold water line and compression fitting (not supplied). The ice machine is supplied with a drain hose for gravitydraining. The optional drain pump must be purchased ifa gravity drain is not possible. Both drain methodsrequire routing to an open site drain. Do not connectdirectly to drain line as bacteria from drain line maycontaminate the ice machine. The included water filter is designed to inhibit scaleformation, filter sediment, and remove chlorine odor andtaste. The life expectancy of the water filter is 6 monthsduring normal usage. The ice machine control board willmonitor water usage and indicate when replacement isrequired.WATER INLET LINESFollow these guidelines to install water inlet lines:• Do not connect the ice machine to a hot watersupply. Be sure all hot water restrictors installed forother equipment are working. (Check valves on sinkfaucets, dishwashers, etc.)• If water pressure exceeds the maximumrecommended pressure (80 psi/552 kPA), obtain awater pressure regulator from your Manitowocdistributor.• Install a water shut-off valve for the ice making waterlines.• Insulate the water inlet line to prevent condensation.DRAIN CONNECTIONSFollow these guidelines when installing drain lines toprevent drain water from flowing back into the icemachine and storage bin:• Drain lines must have a 1.5 inch drop per 5 feet ofrun (2.5 cm per meter), and must not create traps.• The floor drain must be large enough toaccommodate drainage from all drains.• Drain pump discharge line must terminate at an opensite drain.• Maximum rise - 12 feet (3.7 m)• Maximum run - 100 feet (30.5 m)WATER SUPPLY AND DRAIN LINE SIZING/CONNECTIONSNOTE: If air temperature is less than 60°F (15.5°C), water temperature must be equal to or greater than 50°F (10°C).Approx.
