Maintenance Section 44-2 Part Number 80-1560-3Guardian™Slime is a leading cause of ice machine breakdowns andbiological growth is a health concern. The Guardian™system releases chlorine dioxide on a controlled basis toinhibit the growth of bacteria and fungi that form slimeand cause malodors in the food zone of ice machines.The Guardian™ will not control mineral or other waterborne buildup. Your water quality will determine thelength of time before mineral buildup affects ice machineperformance. Mineral buildup must be removed as oftenas necessary to ensure trouble-free operation of the icemachine.The Guardian™ sachet holder is included with thesachet packets. Refer to installation/replacementprocedure to install/change sachet holder/packet.Guardian™ LocationGUARDIAN™ SACHET REPLACEMENTFREQUENCYSachet packet(s) require replacement every thirty (30)days or whenever they come in direct contact with water.Refer to chart below for requirements.Guardian™ sachet packets are available through yourlocal Manitowoc ice machine dealer.SACHET INSTALLATION/REPLACEMENTPROCEDURE1. Loosen the front panel screws and remove frontpanel.Screw Location2. Inside the front panel there are two thumbscrewholes covered by stickers, pierce the sticker with ascrewdriver.3. Attach the sachet holder to the front panel byinserting the thumbscrews through the holes in thesachet holder and tighten the thumbscrews.4. Remove the new sachet packet from foil packageand install into holder. Removing the foil packageallows moisture in the air to activate the sachetcontents.5. Replace front panel and tighten screws.6. Discard the use sachet packet in the trash.CLEAN UP PROCEDURE FOR DAMAGED SACHETPACKET1. Remove all ice from bin/dispenser and discard.2. Initiate a cleaning and sanitizing sequence on theice machine (see next pages).3. Clean the bin/dispenser. Flush the drain thoroughlyto prevent future drain blockage.4. Sanitize the bin/dispenser.5.
