Installation Instructions Section 22-12 Part No. 80-1214-3Refrigeration Line Set InstallationGENERALRefrigeration line set installations consist of vertical andhorizontal line set distances between the ice machineand the condensing unit. The following guidelines, drawings and calculation methods must be followed toassure proper oil return and condensing unit/icemachine operationStep 1 Verify Ice Machine and Remote CondensingUnit Locations Are Within Guidelines.Prior to installation of the ice machine head section andremote condensing unit be sure that the distancebetween then is within the line set routing guidelinesoutlined in this manual.Roof/Wall PenetrationIf required, cut a 3-inch (76.2 mm) circular hole in thewall or roof for routing of refrigeration tubing. A qualifiedperson must perform all roof penetrations.Step 2 Route Refrigeration TubingProperly route refrigeration tubing between the icemachine head section and the remote condensing unit.A. LINE SET LENGTH100 feet (30.5 m) Length: The maximum measuredlength the line set can be.The receiver is designed to hold a charge sufficient tooperate the ice machine in ambient temperaturesbetween -20°F (-28.9°C) and 120°F (49°C), with line setlengths of up to 100 feet (30.5 m).B. LINE SET RISE OR DROP35 feet (10.7 m) Rise: The maximum distance theremote condensing unit can be above the ice machine.15 feet (4.5 m) Drop: The maximum distance theremote condensing unit can be below the ice machine.! WarningThe following instructions are provided as a generaloverview of a typical installation. Refer to theInstallation, Use and Care Manual for step by stepinstallation instructions.! WarningDisconnect electrical power to the ice machine headsection and the remote condensing unit beforeproceeding.! WarningThe ice machine head section contains refrigerantcharge. The ice machine head section contains three(3) refrigeration valves that must remain closed untilproper installation of the line set is completed.ImportantThe ice machines will not function with line setsgreater than 100 feet (30.5 m). Do not attempt to gobeyond this distance and add refrigerant charge tocompensate!35’ (10.7 M)MAX.DISTANCESV175115’ (4.5 M)MAX.DISTANCESV1750Revised 8/2003Downloaded from www.Manualslib.com manuals search engine
