78 Part Number 040005626 5/17Discharge Line Temperature AnalysisGENERALKnowing if the discharge line temperature isincreasing, decreasing or remaining constant can bean important diagnostic tool. Maximum compressordischarge line temperature on a normally operating icemachine steadily increases throughout the freezecycle. Comparing the temperatures over severalcycles will result in a consistent maximum dischargeline temperature.Ambient air temperatures affect the maximumdischarge line temperature.Higher ambient air temperatures at the condenser =higher discharge line temperatures at the compressor.Lower ambient air temperatures at the condenser =lower discharge line temperatures at the compressor.Regardless of ambient temperature, the freeze cycledischarge line temperature will be higher than 150°F(66°C) on a normally operating ice machine.PROCEDUREConnect a temperature probe on the compressordischarge line within 6" (15 cm) of the compressor.Observe the discharge line temperature for the lastthree minutes of the freeze cycle and record themaximum discharge line temperature.
