The available I/Omodule configurations in Table 3-8 are supported with either dual Gigabit Ethernet or dualSFP ports.Connecting to Network PortsThe SLC network ports, 10/100/1000 Base-T Ethernet, allow remote access to the attacheddevices and the system administrative functions. Use a standard RJ45-terminated Category 5cable to connect to the network port. A CAT5e or better cable is recommended for use with a1000 Base-T Ethernet connection.Note: One possible use for the two Ethernet ports is to have one port on a private, secure network, and the other on an unsecured network.Connecting TerminalsThe console port is for local access to the SLC 8000 advanced console manager and the attacheddevices. You may attach a dumb terminal or a computer with terminal emulation to the consoleport. The SLC console port uses RS-232C protocol and supports VT100 emulation. The defaultserial settings are 9600 baud, 8 bit data, No parity, 1 stop bit with no flow control. To connect the console port to a terminal or computer with terminal emulation, Lantronix offersoptional adapters that provide a connection between an RJ45 jack and a DB9 or DB25 connector. The console port is configured as DTE (non-reversed RJ45). See Appendix C: Adapters andPinouts on page 419 for more information.
