57TRANS (Transparent) ModeA second way to transmit data is to instruct the KPC-3 Plus to ignore the ―controlcharacters‖ (e.g., ―backspace‖) and just transmit every character as data. This is calledthe ―TRANS‖ (transparent) mode of communication. For example, if data received bythe KPC-3 Plus for transmission in TRANS mode includes ―backspace‖ characters (i.e.,characters that would cause a backspace in CONVERS mode), the KPC-3 Plus willtransmit the backspace characters as part of the data. Before you can switch to TRANS mode, you need to set INTFACE to TERMINALinstead of NEWUSER. (This is because, as described in the next section, theTRANS command is not a NEWUSER command.) To get out of TRANS mode andback to COMMAND mode, enter ― three times, with a pause of less thanone second between each entry.NEWUSER CommandsYou have a choice of whether to have your KPC-3 Plus prepared to deal with a smallset of (22) NEWUSER commands (which is the default setting) or with the full set ofover 130 commands it is capable of carrying out.Note: To switch to the full command set of the KPC-3 Plus, get in COMMAND Mode() and give the command INTFACE TERMINAL. To switch back, give thecommand INTFACE NEWUSER.List of NEWUSER CommandsThe following is an alphabetical listing of the 22 NEWUSER commands and a briefdescription of each.BKONDEL - When ON echoes a backspace-space-backspace sequence to the screeneach time you press the DELETE key to erase errors from your screen.
