226Messages from the KPC-3 PlusThe following are brief explanations of the most important messages that may be sentby your TNC.Note: Since these messages are also sent by other Kantronics TNCs, they refer to―TNC‖, not to ―KPC-3 Plus‖.***(callsign) busyThe packet station you were attempting to connect to (callsign) is unable toaccept connects, and responded with a busy signal.Already connected on stream nYou are attempting to connect to someone you are already connected to onanother stream. The STATUS command will show you who you are connected toand on what stream (i.e., stream ―n‖).BBS BUSYYou have attempted to connect to your own PBBS, but the PBBS does not haveany available streams (PBUSERS) to allow a connect.CALIBRATE MODE:M send markR receiveS send spaceT send square wave- or + adjust XMITLVL while transmittingX exitThis message appears on your screen when you enter the Calibrate Mode, and itprompts you to press M to generate a MARK tone, R to receive a KantronicsCalibrate signal, S to generate a SPACE tone, T to transmit a KantronicsCalibrate signal, - or + to adjust XMITLVL while transmitting, or X to return to theCommand Mode.Can’t DISCONNECTYou are not connected on this stream so therefore cannot disconnect. Thismessage will be followed by the stream and a ―Link state is:‖ message, describedlater in this section.Can’t RECONNECTYou have attempted to reconnect to a station (by issuing a CONNECTcommand) but the callsign you entered is not the same as the station you arealready connected to. You may only reconnect to the station you are connectedto on this stream.CHECKSUM ERRORThis message indicates that the Kantronics firmware in your TNC may bedamaged. You may see this message when performing a hard reset, or any timea soft reset is performed (including initial power up), and an EPROM error isdetected.
