34Additional preparation• In the VIDEO-4 terminal, the VIDEO jackis indicated by "V".2 Connect the TV's AUDIO jacks(L/MONO and R) and thedevice's AUDIO OUT (audio L/Routput) jacks with an audiocable.If the device's sound output is inmono :Connect the device's AUDIO OUT jack andthe TV's L/MONO jack with an audio cable.Connecting devices to theOUTPUT terminalThe signals of the images and sound you arecurrently viewing with this TV are outputthrough the OUTPUT terminal. By connectinga VCR to the OUTPUT terminal, you canrecord the currently shown image and soundto that VCR. To do this, connect the VCR andOUTPUT terminal following the steps below.1 Connect the VIDEO jack in theOUTPUT terminal and the VCR'sVIDEO IN (video input) jack witha video cable.2 Connect the AUDIO jacks (L andR) in the OUTPUT terminal andthe VCR's AUDIO IN (audio L/Rinput) jacks with an audio cable.• When you turn off the TV, the signals fromthe OUTPUT terminal are also turned off.• The component signals input from theVIDEO-3/COMPONENT terminal cannotbe output through the OUTPUT terminal.Connecting HeadphonesConnect the headphones with a stereo minijack (of 3.5 mm in diameter) to the Head-phone jack at the TV front panel.Connecting methods1 Connect the TV's VIDEO jackand the device's VIDEO OUT(video output) jack with a videocable.If connecting a device to the TVwith an S-VIDEO cabel :Connect the VCR's S-VIDEO OUT (S-VIDEOoutput) connector and the TV's "S" (S-VIDEO)connector with an S-VIDEO cable, instead ofconnecting with a video cable.Note that the connection with a video cablewill be ignored in case you conect a VCR tothe TV with both video cable and S-VIDEOcable.If connecting a DVD player to theTV with a component videocable :Connect three jacks (Y/VIDEO, CB and CR) inthe VIDEO-3 terminal and the DVD player'sCOMPONENT (component video output)jacks with a component video cables,instead of connection with a video cable.Then set the VIDEO-3 SETTING to COMPO-NENT, according to "VIDEO-3 SETTING" onpage 26.• This Television is compatible with theProgressive video signal (525P signal).(When the component video signal isinput.)If you have a DVD player that outputsProgressive video signals (525P) as acomponent video signal, then byattaching the device to the television witha component video cable you can seethe actual images that are recorded on aDVD disc as an original image source.If connecting a device to theVIDEO-3/COMPONENT terminalwith a video cable :Connect the TV's Y/VIDEO jack and thedevice's VIDEO OUT (video output) jack witha video cables.Then set the VIDEO-3 SETTING to VIDEOaccording to "VIDEO-3 SETTING" on page26.
