41Troubleshooting• When you are viewing a teletext progra-mme, you cannot operate the menus.Press the TV/VIDEO button to return theteletext programme to the ordinary TVprogramme to try operating the menus.• Is the CHILD LOCK function set to ON?If the CHILD LOCK function is set to ON,you cannot operate the TV with the frontcontrol buttons of the TV. Follow thedescription "CHILD LOCK" on page 26 totry to set the CHILD LOCK function to OFF.• If the TV operation becomes disabledsuddenly, press the Main power buttonon the TV and turn off the main power.Try to press the Main power button againto turn on the main power. If the TVreturns to a normal state, it is not afailure.• The following functions do not operatewhen receiving Progressive Video Signal(525P signal);Remote control function:ZOOM, PIP, MULTI, FREEZE andSTROBE BUTTONMENU function:SHARP, TINT, DIGITAL VNR, Digipureand ZOOMOther concerns• When the SLEEP TIMER function orAUTO SHUTOFF function operates, theTV is automatically turned off.If the TV is turned off suddenly, try topress the POWER button to turn on theTV once again. At this time, if the TVresumes a normal state, there is noproblem.• If you do not want sound emitted fromthe TV’s speakers when usingheadphones, change the TV SPEAKERsetting in the HEADPHONE menu to OFF.For details, see “HEADPHONE” on page25.• When a white and bright still image (su-ch as a white dress) is displayed on thescreen, the white part may look as if itwere coloured.It is a phenomenon unavoidable due tothe nature of the picture tube itself, andnot due to a TV failure.When the picture disappears from thescreen, the unnatural colours will alsodisappear.• When viewing images from commerciallyavailable video softwear products, or vi-deos from videotapes which have beenrecored improperly, the top of the imagemay be distored.This is due to the condition of the videosignal, and not because of malfunction.Poor sound• Have you adjusted BASS or TREBLEproperly? If not, follow the description"Adjusting the Sound" on page 24 to tryto adjust them properly.• When the TV channel reception is poor, itcan be hard to hear the stereo orbilingual sound. In this case, follow thedescription "STEREO / I • II" on page 24to hear the sound more easily bychanging it to a mono sound.Operation disabled• Have the batteries of the remote controlbecome exhausted?Follow the description "Putting theBatteries into the Remote Control" onpage 4 and replace them with newbatteries to try solve the problem.• Have you attempted to use the remotecontrol at the sides or rear of the TV or ata location more than seven meters apartfrom the TV location? Operate the remotecontrol in the front of your TV or alocation less than seven meters fromyour TV to try to solve the ploblem.
