H3C SR6608/6604 Routers Installation Manual Chapter 7 Maintaining Software7-2If you have uploaded all the three types of application files into the built-in CF card, thesystem will boot using these three files in order. For more information about applicationfiles, refer to section 7.6 “Maintaining Application and Configuration Files” on page7-34.The following gives the default names and types of the application files and theirpriorities for system boot.z Main application file. The default name is main.bin. It is the default application fileused for system boot.z Backup application file. The default name is backup.bin. When booting with themain application file fails, the system boots using the backup application file.z Secure application file. The default name is secure.bin. When booting with themain and backup application files fails, the system boots using the secureapplication file. If booting with the secure application file fails, the system promptsa boot failure.Note that:z An application file with the attribute of M, B, or S can be used to boot the system, but one with an attribute denoted by N/A (that is, an application file without aspecific attribute assigned to it) cannot.z You can modify the attribute of application files using the BootWare menu or thecommand line interface (CLI) after the application is started.z As the secure application file is the last resort for system boot, you cannot changeits attribute, or turn another type of application file into a secure application file bymeans of attribute modification. You can only download it using the BootWaremenu.z Only one file of the same type (M, B, or S) can exist in the CF card. For instance, ifa file in the CF card has both M and B attributes, no other file with the attribute of Mor B can exist in the CF card. If the attribute of another file is changed from N/A toB, the existing file that has both M and B attributes will lose its B attribute.7.1.4 Configuration FilesThe configuration files are used to store the configuration information of the router andload the configuration information at system boot:1) A system that supports the main and backup attributes of configuration filesdefines three types of configuration files by default:z Main configuration file (with the attribute of M)z Backup configuration file (with the attribute of B)z Default configuration file (with the attribute of S)The main and backup configuration files are used as follows:
