18Monitoring TrafficRefer to the information in the TCAD Pilot’s Guideregarding monitoring traffic on the display and thecorresponding actions to take.Highlighting Traffic Data Using Map PanningPanning is another map page function, whichallows you to move the map beyond its current limitswithout adjusting the map scale. When you selectthe panning function—by pressing the small rightknob—a target pointer flashes on the map display. Awindow also appears at the top of the map displayshowing the latitude/longitude position of the pointer,plus the bearing and distance to the pointer from yourpresent position.When the target pointer is placed on traffic,the traffic range, squawk code (if available),and tail number (if available) are displayed.To use the map panning feature:1. Press the small right knob to activate thepanning target pointer.2. Turn the small right knob to move up (turnclockwise), or down (turn counterclockwise).3. Turn the large right knob to move right (turnclockwise), or left (turn counterclockwise).4. To cancel map panning and return to your pres-ent position, press the small right knob.When the target pointer is placed on traffic, thetraffic range, altitude separation, squawk code (if avail-able), and tail number (if available) are displayed. Thetraffic is identified as follows:TA: Traffic Advisory. This is traffic with 500 feet, orless, of altitude separation that is converging ormaintaining altitude separation.PA: Proximity Advisory. This is traffic with 500 feetof altitude separation that is not a TA.TRFC: Other traffic.TCAD Setup PageThe Ryan TCAD Setup Page is accessed from theTraffic Page. The TCAD Setup Page allows you toconfigure traffic data. The definitions of the availableoptions are listed in the TCAD Pilot’s Handbook.Ryan TCAD Setup Page (9900B only)To change a TCAD setup option:1. Turn the small right knob to select the TrafficPage. Press MENU to display the Page Menu.Turn the small right knob to select “Setup?”and press ENT.2. The flashing cursor highlights the Mode field.Turn the small right knob to select the modeand press ENT. The mode selection determineswhich shield definition to display and change.Turn the large right knob to select the desiredremaining options fields.
