However, it should not be asubstitute for visually checking the flame atthe burner.Electronicignition &automaticreignitionThe range is equipped with electronic ignitionwhich eliminates the need for a standing pilotlight.The burners on this range will automaticallyrelight if the flame goes out.All surface burner igniters will spark and makeclicking sounds when any burner is turned on.Do not touch any of the burners when ignitersare clicking.Occasionally the burners may spark if excesswind or a draft blows the flame away from theburner’s flame sensor.The griddle and IR (infrared) grill are equippedwith Glo-Bar igniters. The Glo-Bar remainsenergized whenever the griddle or IR grill is inuse to ensure the burner always stays lit.In case of a power outage, you can light thesurface burners on your cooktop with a match.Hold a lighted match to the burner, then turn theknob to the LOW position. Use extreme cautionwhen lighting burners this way.Do not attempt to light the grill or griddle duringa power outage. The gas to these burners willautomatically shut off during a power outage.To lighta surfaceburnerON IndicatorLightDual-flamestackedburnersAll surface burners on your range have two setsof flames stacked one on top of the other; thedual-flame burners have a lower (simmer) flameand a upper (main) flame.When a burner is turned on, the lower flamewill always light and stay on.Simmering:The stacked burner design provides a widerange of heat settings with which to simmer.Depending on the type and quantity of food,and pan size, the flame can be adjusted to suityour specific need. The lowest setting uses onlythe lower flame and can maintain delicate foodsat a safe 140°F.Cooking:Settings from LO to X-HI will use both upper andlower flames. Use LO to HI for all purposecooking. Use HI or X-HI (highest setting) withlarger diameter cookware.Upper FlameLower FlameLower FlameX-HI and HI are very high heat settings andare intended to sear foods quickly and boillarge quantities of water.
