3.4.Pushtheoil drainhose(packedwiththismanual)ontothe oildrainport.Routetheoppositeendofthe hoseinto anappropriateoil collectioncontainerwithatleasta2.0quartcapacity,to collectthe usedoil.Turntheoil drainvalve1/4-turn,thenpulloutwardto begindrainingoil.Aftertheoil hasfinisheddraining,pushthe endofthe oildrainvalvebackinandturn1/4-turnto secureit backinplace.Re-capthe endoftheo[Idrainvalveto keepdebrisfrom enteringthedrainport.Afterthe oil hasfinisheddraining,pushtheendof theoil drainvalvebackin,untilthe tabsclickintoplace.Re-capthe endofthe oildrainvalveto keepdebrisfromenteringthedrainportandfill the engineasinstructedintheengineowner'smanual.Seeengineowner'smanualincludedwith thistractorfor oil capacity.TireMaintenanceCheckthe tire airpressureafter every50 hoursofoperationor weekly.Keepthetiresinflatedto the recommendedpressures.Improperinflationwill shortenthetire servicelife.Seethe tire sidewall forproperinflationpressures.Observethefollowingguidelines:Donot inflateatire abovethe maximumpressureshownon the sidewallofthe tire.Donot reinflateatire that hasbeenrunflat or seriouslyunderinflated.Haveaqualifiedtire mechanicinspectandservicethe tire.LubricationUsingapressurelubricatinggun,lubricatethe front castorwheelaxlesandthe front pivotaxlewith No.2multipurposelithium greaseafter every10hoursof service.Periodicallylubricateallotherpivotpoints;i.e.the seatpivotbracket,idlerpivotbracketon thedeck,decklift shaftassembly,etc.with aqualitylubricatingoil.GeneralBattery InformationShouldbattery acidaccidentallysplatter intothe eyesor onto the skin,rinsethe affected areaimmediately with clean coldwater. If there isany further discomfort, seekprompt medicalattention. If acidspills onclothing, first dilute it with cleanwater, then neutralizewith asolution ofammonia/water or bakingsoda/water.NEVERconnect(or disconnect)battery chargerclipsto the battery whilethe charger isturned on, as it cancausesparks.Keepall sourcesof ignition(cigarettes,matches,lighters)awayfrom the battery. Thegasgeneratedduring chargingcan becombustible.Asafurther precaution,only chargethe battery in awell ventilated area.Alwaysshieldeyesand protect skinand clothingwhen working nearbatteries.Batteriescontain sulfuric acidandmay emit explosivegases.Useextremecaution when handling batteries. Keepbatteries out of the reachofchildren.Battery MaintenanceThebatteryisfilledwithbatteryacidandthensealedatthefactory.However,evena"maintenancefree"batteryrequiressomemaintenancetoensureitsproperlifecycle.Spraytheterminalsandexposedwirewithabatteryterminalsealer,orcoattheterminalswithathincoatofgreaseorpetroleumjelly,toprotectagainstcorrosion.Alwayskeepthe batterycablesandterminalscleanandfreeof corrosion.Avoidtipping. Evena sealedbatterywill leakelectrolytewhentipped.Battery RemovalBattery posts,terminals andrelated accessoriescontain lead andleadcompounds.Washhandsafter handling.Thebatteryislocatedbeneaththe seatframe.Toremovethe battery:1. Removethe hexwasherscrewsecuringthe batteryhold-downbrackettothe frame.Thenflip the batteryhold-downbracketup to freethe battery.SeeFigure22.HexWasherScrewBattery Hold-DownBracketFigure22Removethe hexcapscrewandseresnut securingtheblacknegativebatteryleadto the negativebatterypost(markedNEG).Movethecableawayfromthe negativebatterypost,2. Removethe hexcapscrewandsemsnut securingthe redpositivebatteryleadto the positivebatterypost(markedPOS).3. Carefullylift the batteryout of the tractor.4. Installthe batterybyrepeatingthe abovestepsinthe reverseorder.Alwaysconnectthe positive leadto the battery beforeconnectingthenegativelead.Thiswill preventsparkingor possibleinjuryfrom anelectricalshort causedby contactingthe ridingmower bodywith toolsbeing usedto connectthe cables.21 |
