Chapter 77-247.11 Photosensitive Drum Cleaning7.11.1 Outline 0006-6033iR2270 / iR2870 / iR3570 / iR4570The photosensitive drum cleaning mechanism uses the photosensitive drum cleaning blade to scrape off the residualtoner left behind from transfer; the toner thus collected is moved to the waste toner box.7.11.2 Collection of Waste Toner 0006-6034iR2270 / iR2870 / iR3570 / iR4570The waste toner scraped off by the cleaning blade is moved by the waste toner feedscrew to the waste toner box foundat the front of the machine. The waste toner feedscrew is operated by the drive from the drum flange.7.11.3 Checking the Waste Toner Box 0006-6036iR2270 / iR2870 / iR3570 / iR4570To prevent leakage of waste toner from the waste toner box or to prevent overloading the waste toner feedscrew, themachine is equipped with a waste toner detection mechanism. The waste toner box can hold about 2043 cc of toner, and the machine identifies the waste toner box as being full when there is about 1766 cc of toner or when the tonercomes to weigh about 1050 g.When the weight of waste toner increases, the waste toner case itself lowers on its own, thus causing the machine toassume that the case has become full.
