Adjusting the Tone (White Balance) (continued)94Setting a Custom White BalanceYou can set a custom white balance to obtain the optimal setting forthe shooting conditions by having the camera evaluate a subjectsuch as a white piece of paper or cloth, or a photo-quality gray card.You can set two different custom settings. Shoot after reading thewhite balance data in (Custom1) or (Custom2) in thefollowing cases since the white balance may not be correctlyadjusted in (Auto):• Shooting close-ups• Shooting subjects of monotone color (such as sky, sea or forest)• Shooting with a peculiar source of light (such as a mercury-vaporlamp)2 Select the desired setting usingthe main dial or the W or X arrowon the omni selector.z Please see below regarding thecustom setting.z You can shoot the image right afterselecting settings by pressing the shutterbutton. The menu displays again after theshot, allowing you to change the settingseasily.3 Press or click the main dial.z The white balance cannot be adjusted when the photo effect isset to (Sepia) or (B/W).1 Press WB (T on the omni selector).z The current white balance mode will appear on the display paneland the white balance setting menu will appear on the LCDmonitor (or in the viewfinder).
