Chapter 2: Setting Up and Getting Started20Testing your networkNow that your home network is set up, log onto oneof your computers and access a favorite Internet Website.If you are unable to connect to the Internet:• Click Start, Control Panel, Network and Internet, thenclick Network and Sharing Center. Select Diagnose andRepair on the left of the window. Take anyactions suggested.• If you are using a wired Ethernet network, checkall physical cable connections.• Make sure that your router or access point isplugged in and compare the status lights on thefront of the router or access point with thepatterns described in the router or access pointdocumentation.• Temporarily turn off any firewall software onyour desktop computer.• Turn off all of the devices, then power them backon.• Refer to your router’s or access point’stroubleshooting information.• Contact your Internet service provider.
