480i IP Phone User Guide 3Getting Started Getting StartedWhen You First Plug inYour PhoneThe 480i automatically begins thestartup sequence as soon as it isconnected. The phone goesthrough this process the first timeyou plug in your phone and everytime you restart your phone. Thefirst screen to display is the Aastrasplash screen.Updating Your PhoneAfter displaying the Aastra splashscreen, the 480i checks settings andchecks for new configuration andfirmware updates on theconfiguration server. If a newupdate is found, the phonedisplays the update it is installing(either "Updating Config" or "NewFirmware"). This may take a fewmoments while the configurationserver downloads the latestupdates. Your system or networkadministrator manages theupdates for the IP phones on theconfiguration server.Important! Do not unplug orremove power from the phonewhile it is checking and installingfirmware.Startup ScreensAfter the phone displays theAastra splash screen, or afterdownloading an update (if anupdate was available), the phonedisplays the Idle State screen.Note: The Idle State screen on yourphone may not look exactly asthe figure above. The softkeysand configuration shown are anexample of what could be set upon your phone by your systemadministrator.
