212 Copyright © Acronis, Inc., 2000-2009A management server has two built-in groups that contain all machines of each type: All physicalmachines (p. 218), All virtual machines (p. 221).Built-in groups cannot be deleted, moved to other groups or manually modified. Custom groupscannot be created within built-in groups. There is no way to remove a physical machine from thebuilt-in group except for deleting the machine from the management server. Virtual machines aredeleted as a result of their host server deletion.A backup policy (p. 210) can be applied to a built-in group.CCentralized backup planA backup plan (p. 210) that appears on the managed machine (p. 217) as a result of deploying abackup policy (p. 210) from the management server (p. 218). Such plan can be modified only byediting the backup policy.Centralized managementManagement of the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 infrastructure through a central management unitknown as Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 Management Server (p. 218). The centralized managementoperations include:• creating, applying and managing backup policies (p. 210)• creating and managing static (p. 219) and dynamic groups (p. 215) of machines (p. 217)• managing the tasks (p. 220) existing on the machines• creating and managing centralized vaults (p. 212) for storing archives• managing storage nodes (p. 219)• monitoring activities of the Acronis Backup & Recovery 10 components, viewing the centralizedlog and more.Centralized taskA task (p. 220) belonging to a centralized backup plan (p. 212). Such task appears on the managedmachine (p. 217) as a result of deploying a backup policy (p. 210) from the management server (p.218) and can be modified only by editing the backup policy.Centralized vaultA networked location allotted by the management server (p. 218) administrator to serve as storagefor the backup archives (p. 209). A centralized vault can be managed by a storage node (p. 219) or beunmanaged. The total number and size of archives stored in a centralized vault are limited by thestorage size only.As soon as the management server administrator creates a centralized vault, the vault name and pathto the vault are distributed to all machines registered (p. 219) on the server. The shortcut to the vaultappears on the machines in the Centralized vaults list. Any backup plan (p. 210) existing on themachines, including local plans, can use the centralized vault.
