7/98General Procedures and Information 5-6 Xerox DocuPrint P8e Service Manual5.2.2 Printer ModesThe DocuPrint P8e has two modes of operation, each with its own set of options.1 Ready Mode (online)2 Test Mode5.2.2.1 Ready Mode (Online)The Ready Mode (Online) is the printer’s normal operating mode. In this mode the printer is online andready to print. Ready Mode occurs automatically when the printer is switched on. The printer can betaken Offline by pressing the On/Off-line button. When the button is pressed the Ready LED will go off.Ready Mode may be restored by pressing the On/Off-line button again.When the printer is in Ready Mode, the “Ready” LED on the Control Panel is lit. When the “Ready” LEDis blinking, the printer is receiving/processing data, or printing. When the Ready LED is OFF, the printeris Offline.5.2.2.2 Test ModeIn Test Mode, the printer is able to print a one page configuration sheet.Local Test ModeTo initiate a printer self-test and print a configuration sheet, follow these steps:1) Make sure the printer in on-line.2) Press and hold the On/Off-line button until all three LEDs are blinking (approximately fourseconds), then release the button. The configuration sheet will be printed.Remote Test ModeThe Remote Control Panel software can be used to tell the printer to print a one page printerconfiguration sheet, although it cannot make the printer do a self-test.
