20®B-VENT FREESTANDING FIREPLACE105500INSPECTINGBURNERSCheck pilot flame pattern and burner flamepatterns often.PILOT ASSEMBLYThe pilot assembly is factory preset for theproper flame height. Alterations may haveoccurred during shipping and handling. Calla qualified service person to readjust thepilot if necessary.The height of the thermopile must be 3/8" to1/2" above the pilot flame as shown in Figure49. The flame from the pilot burner mustextend beyond the thermopile.If your pilot assembly does not meet theserequirements:• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas toAppliance, page 18)• see Troubleshooting, pages 22 through 24BURNER FLAME PATTERNBurner flames will be steady; not lifting orfloating. Flame patterns will be differentfrom unit to unit and will vary depending oninstallation type and weather conditions.If the vent configuration is installed incor-rectly, the flames will lift or “ghost”. Thiscan be dangerous. Inspect the flames afterinstallation to ensure proper installation andperformance.Figure 50 shows a typical flame pattern. Ifburner flame pattern differs from thatdescribed:• turn fireplace off (see To Turn Off Gas toAppliance, page 18)• see Troubleshooting, pages 22 through 24Figure 49 - Pilot AssemblyFigure 50 - Typical Flame PatternThermopilePilot BurnerPiezo Ignitor3/8" to 1/2"OPERATINGFIREPLACEContinuedOPERATINGOPTIONAL BLOWERACCESSORYLocate the blower controls by openingthe lower louver panel on the fireplace.Blower controls are located on the leftside of the switch bracket to the left justinside the louver panel.Both the GA3700 manual blower and theDA3610T thermostatically-controlledblower have an ON setting and an OFFsetting. The blower will only run when theswitch is in the ON position. In the OFFposition, the blower will not operate.Note for DA3610T Only: If you areusing DA3610T blower with optionalthemostat (wall mount or remote con-trol) for the fireplace, your fireplace andblower will not turn on and off at thesame time. The fireplace may run forseveral minutes before the blower turnson. After the heater modulates to the pilotposition, the blower will continue to run.The blower will shut off after the fireboxtemperature decreases.The blower helps distribute heated airfrom the fireplace. Periodically check thelouvers of the firebox and remove anydust, dirt, or other obstructions that willhinder the flow of air.OPERATINGOPTIONAL GWMT1WALL MOUNTEDTHERMOSTATLight the fireplace as instructed in Light-ing Instructions on page 18. Set wall ther-mostat to desired temperature.This thermostat has been electronicallycalibrated at the factory and requires noadjustment or leveling.WARNING: Do not connectthe thermostat to a power source.Electrical shock and/or a fire haz-ard will occur.Upon installation, the thermostat mustbe allowed to stabilize at room tempera-ture for a minimum of 30 minutes forproper operation.To turn the fireplace off, adjust thermo-stat to the lowest setting and turn the gascontrol knob back to PILOT. The pilotwill remain lit.IMPORTANT: To turn the pilot off, turnthe control knob on the heater to the OFFposition.
