CHAPTER 4: CONTROLSMODEL HF2 2 kHz HIGH FREQUENCY RESISTANCE WELDING POWER SUPPLY990-057 4-5FOOT SWITCH ConnectorHF2 Weld Control FOOT SWITCH connector uses a 4-pin Amphenol 91-PC4F (Unitek P/N: 550-1-006) bulkhead connector that mates with an Amphenol 91-MC4M (Unitek P/N: 520-1-009).Single-Level Foot Switch (Figure 4-3)1 A Single-Level Foot Switch must befully depressed by the operator. Whenthe Foot Switch closes, the HF2 WeldControl energizes the Air ActuatedWeld Head, causing the UpperElectrode to descend and apply force tothe parts. If the Foot Switch is releasedbefore the Weld Head applies the PresetFiring Force, the HF2 Weld Controlwill automatically return the UpperElectrode to its up position.2 Connect a Unitek Model FS1L FootSwitch, reed relay, or the open collectorof an opto coupler to the Foot SwitchFigure 4-3. Single-Level Foot Switchconnector to initiate the welding process. The emitter of the opto coupler must be connected toPin 4.3 When using a non-Unitek Peco Foot Switch, connect Pin 2 to Pin 3.Two-Level Foot Switch (Figure 4-4)1 When a Two -Level Foot Switch ispressed to the first level, the HF2 WeldControl energizes the Air ActuatedWeld Head, causing the UpperElectrode to descend and apply force tothe parts. If the Foot Switch is releasedbefore the operator presses the FootSwitch to the second level, the HF2Weld Control will automatically returnthe Upper Electrode to its up position sothat the parts can be re-positioned.Once the second level has been reachedand the Force Firing Switch in the WeldHead has closed, Weld Current will Figure 4-4. Two-Level Foot Switchflow and the HF2 Weld Control will automatically return the Upper Electrode to its up position.2 Connect a Unitek Model FS2L Foot Switch, reed relay, or the open collector of an optocoupler to the Foot Switch connector to initiate the welding process. The emitter of the optocoupler must be connected to Pin 4.
