Lubricating theBrake-Rod Bushings andSteering-Linkage Rod EndsService Interval: Every 160 hours1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengagethe PTO, and engage the parking brake.2. Shut off the engine, remove the key, and waitfor all moving parts to stop before leaving theoperating position.3. Unlatch the seat latch and tilt the seat up; referto Unlatching the Seat (page 19).4. Lubricate the bronze bushings on each end ofthe brake rod shaft with a spray type lubricantor a light oil.Note: The bushings are located to the insideof the flange bearings.5. Lubricate each end of both steering linkage rodswith a spray lubricant or a light oil.Changing the Gearbox OilService Interval: After the first 50 hours—Changethe oil in all 3 gearbox housings andadd oil as needed.Every 100 hours—Check the oil in all 3 gearboxhousings and add oil as needed.Every 2,000 hours—Change the oil in all 3gearbox housings and add oil as needed.1. Park the machine on a level surface, disengagethe PTO, and engage the parking brake.2. Retain the hardware foruse later.6. Remove the large oil drain plug on the front ofeach of the 3 gearbox sections and drain the oil(Figure 35).g007579Figure 351. Apply a Teflon® pipe sealant to all small magneticplugs and install them into the gearbox.9. Install the gearbox and drive-shaft assembly tothe mower deck.10. Fill the gearbox with Mobil® SHC (synthetic)75W-90 gear lube oil until level with oil drain/fillplug.33
