Changing Engine Oil and FilterChange oil and filter initially after the first 8 hours of op-eration. Change oil every 50 hours and the filter every100 hours thereafter.1. Remove drain plug letting the oil flow into the drainpan. When the oil stops flowing, install drain plug.2. Remove oil filter. Apply a light coat of clean oil to thenew filter gasket.3. Screw filter on by hand until the gasket contacts thefilter adapter. Tighten filter from 1/2 to 3/4 of a turn fur-ther. Do not overtighten.4. Changefilter every 800 hours. Use the following procedureswhen replacement becomes necessary:1.2. Clamp both fuel lines that connect to the fuel filter sogasoline cannot drain when lines are removed.CAUTIONSince gasoline is highly flammable, drainit outdoors and make sure engine is coolnot drain gasoline near any open flame orwhere gasoline fumes may be ignited by aa pipe when handling gasoline.Figure 131.1Close fuel shut–off valve.to prevent a potential fire hazard. Wipe upany gasoline that may have spilled. Dospark. Do not smoke a cigar, cigarette, orFuel filter3. Loosen hose clamps at both ends of the filter. Pullfuel lines off the filter.4. Slide hose clamps onto ends of the fuel lines. Pushfuel lines onto fuel filter, and secure them with hoseclamps.
