Checking the InterlockSwitches4 Wheel Drive onlyThe purpose of the interlock switches is to prevent the enginefrom cranking or starting unless the traction pedal is in theNeutral position, the PTO is disengaged and the LowerMow/Raise control is in the Neutral position. In addition, theengine should stop when the traction pedal is pressed withoperator off of the seat or if the parking brake is left engaged.CAUTIONIf safety interlock switches are disconnected ordamaged the machine could operate unexpectedlycausing personal injury.• Do not tamper with the interlock switches.• Check the operation of the interlock switchesdaily and replace any damaged switches beforeoperating the machine.Verifying the Interlock Switch Function1. Park the machine on a level surface, lower the cuttingdecks, stop the engine, and engage the parking brake.2. Raise the seat.3. Locate the wire harness and connectors near thecontroller (Figure 27).4. Carefully unplug loop back connector from harnessconnector.Figure 271. Wire harness and connectors5. Connect the Diagnostic ACE display tool connector tothe harness loop back connector (Figure 28).Note: Make sure correct overlay decal is positionedon Diagnostic ACE display.Figure 281. Diagnostic ACE6. Turn the key switch to the On position, but do notstart the machine.Note: The red text on the overlay decal refers to inputswitches and the green text refers to outputs.7. The “inputs displayed” LED, on the lower rightcolumn of the Diagnostic ACE, should be illuminated. If the “outputs displayed” LED is illuminated, pressthe toggle button, on Diagnostic ACE, to change LEDto “inputs displayed”.The Diagnostic ACE will illuminate the LED associatedwith each of the inputs when that input switch is closed.8. Individually, change each of the switches from opento closed (i.e., sit on seat, engage traction pedal, etc.),and note that the appropriate LED on Diagnostic ACEwill blink on and off when corresponding switch isclosed. Repeat this for all switches that you can changeby hand.9. If a switch is closed and the appropriate LED does notturn on, check all wiring and connections to the switchand/or check the switch with an ohm meter. Replaceany defective switch and repair any defective wiring.Note: The Diagnostic ACE also has the ability to detectwhich output solenoids or relays are turned on. This is aquick way to determine if a machine malfunction is electricalor hydraulic.Verifying Output Function1. Park the machine on a level surface, lower the cuttingdeck, stop the engine, and engage the parking brake.2. Raise the seat.3. Locate wire harness and connectors near controller.4. Carefully unplug loopback connector from harnessconnector.29
