41PrecautionsMiscellaneousNotes• Before starting the following maintenance, be sure toturn the unit off by pressing the 1ON/STANDBYswitch on the front panel.• When cleaning the unit, do not exert strong pressure onthe platen rollers (black rollers), to prevent thepossibility of damage and uneven printing.Replacing the cleaning rollerThe supplied cleaning kit contains cleaning rollers (forreplacement) and cleaning sheets.Proceed as follows to replace the cleaning roller with a newone.1 Pull the front cover lock lever toward you to open thefront cover.2 Hold the left side of the cleaning roller and remove itby sliding it toward the right.3 Remove the packing film on the new cleaning rollerand attach the new cleaning roller.Notes• Be careful not to scratch the surface of the cleaningroller and not to drop it.• Do not wipe the surface of the cleaning roller withthe supplied cleaning sheet.4 Close the front cover completely.If you continue with the cleaning of the thermal head,it is not necessary to close the front cover. Go to step2 of “Cleaning the thermal head” (on page 41).NoteWhen you close the cover, be careful not to catch yourfingers or your hand with the front cover.Cleaning the thermal headProceed as follows to perform the following cleaning taskswith the supplied cleaning sheet.1 Pull the front cover lock lever toward you to open thefront cover.Cleaning rollerInsert the right side of the cleaning roller and push ittoward the right. Then push the left side of the cleaningroller until it is locked.
