USING PRINT MATERIALS4.2Choosing Paper and Other MaterialsYou can print on a variety of print materials, such as plain paper,envelopes, labels, transparencies and so on. See “PaperSpecifications” on page G.3. To get the best possible printquality, use only high-quality copier-grade paper.When you choose print materials, consider the following:• Desired outcome: The paper you choose should beappropriate for the project.• Size: You can use any size paper that fits easily within thepaper adjusters of the paper tray.• Weight : Your printer supports paper weight as follows:-16~28 lbs (60~105 g/m2) bond for the Tray1 oroptional Tray2-16~43 lbs (60~163 g/m2) bond for the Multi-Purpose Tray• Brightness: Some papers are whiter than others andproduce sharper, more vibrant images.• Surface smoothness: The smoothness of the paper affectshow crisp the printing looks on the paper.CAUTION: Using a material that does not conform to thespecification listed in the paper specification can cause problemsthat may require service.
