53Chapter 5 Operating Your Navigation System with VoiceChapter 5Operating Your Navigation System with VoiceBasics of Voice OperationTo Ensure Safe Driving• For safety reasons, Voice Help menu(Voice Recog.Help) is not available whileyour vehicle is in motion. To enable thisfunction, you must stop in a safe place andput on the parking brake before settingyour route.Your Pioneer Navigation System comes with thelatest in voice recognition technology. You canuse voice commands to operate many of its func-tions. This chapter describes where you can usevoice commands, and also what commands thesystem accepts.Flow of voice operationYou can start voice operation any time even whenthe map screen is displayed or audio is operated.The basic steps of voice operation are as follows.The steps are almost the same as when using theRemote Control.❒ With the “CD-SR80” Steering Remote Control(sold separately), you can press the BANDbutton and the F button to switch on the oper-ation mode of the Steering Remote Control.When the operation mode is switched on, bypressing the BAND button of the SteeringRemote Control, you can activate voice opera-tion, which is equivalent of pressing theTALK (or VOICE) button. (“CD-SR90” and“CD-SR100” can be used. For the details oftheir operation, see the instruction manualsattached to them.)When using voice operation for the firsttimeUntil you are familiar with this system, it is rec-ommended to stop the vehicle in a safe place andrefer to the commands displayed in the VoiceHelp menu (a list of the words you can speak).When your vehicle is parked with the parkingbrake on, press the TALK (or VOICE) button ortouch VOICE icon to display a list of availablevoice commands (Voice Help menu). Display ofthe Voice Help menu can be turned on /off with“Voice Recog.Help” in the Settings menu.1 Press the TALK (or VOICE) button ortouch VOICE icon to activate voiceoperation.2 Speak a command into the micro-phone.3 When the command is recognized, it isrepeated.4 As necessary, repeat Steps 2 and 3.5 The voice command is carried out.
